The Code of Professional Responsibility provides more than adequate notice of the fact that the commission of a criminal offense in a foreign country by a Minnesota attorney can lead to the imposition of serious disciplinary sanctions. 2. In a Minnesota disciplinary proceeding based on the conviction of a criminal offense in a foreign country, the foreign trial will be reviewed only to determine whether fundamental fairness and due process were accorded the accused; and where such trial is found to have been fair, the facts underlying the judgment of conviction will be accepted and may not be relitigated in the Minnesota disciplinary action.
